![]() In 2015 I moved to Galway, Ireland and that was my first time living in a city where I didn't know anyone. Agnese was the first woman I met there, we were both staying at the same temporary house while looking for a permanent address before the start of the semester at the university. I ended up moving out in only three days, but we did get a chance to spend some time together. I learned that she's allergic to strawberries and that she prefers pebble beaches to sandy ones. | ![]() | ![]() Over a year after she finished her Erasmus and moved back to Italy, Agnese came over to Galway for a visit, a treat to herself after graduating from college. Her final thesis was a comparison between Dante's 'Inferno' translation to English and the original, and how it could be much better. At the time of our meeting, she was planning on starting a PhD studying Russian, Slovenian and Spanish. Agnese knows Latin too and the dialect from her region in Italy - besides Italian and English, | ![]() That there is power in language and so much meaning behind the specific ways in which we express ourselves. Through our conversations I had the chance to get a better sense of her fierceness and see how she embraces struggle and channels it into strength. |
